In Search of My Mothers' Gardens borrows its name from Alice Walker who wrote that... "what did it mean for [an othered] woman to be an artist in our grandmothers' day? In our great-grandmothers?" This ongoing series uses vintage postcards and documents from the Caribbean and adds female art styles that would have been known to women who were brought to the Caribbean as enslaved or indentured namely Uli an Igbo tradition and Madhubani from the Bihar region of India, giving the unnamed women in theses archive images agency.
